Application Guide for Postgraduate Program of Guilin Medial University (2024 Spring Semester)

I. Brief Introduction to Guilin Medical University

Founded in 1935, Guilin Medical University (GLMU) is located in Guilin, a world-famous tourist city with rich culture and a long history. It is approved by Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China as one of the first batch of universities as the test sites for “Education Plan for Future Outstanding Doctors”, and it is a university with excellent undergraduate teaching level assessed by Ministry of Education. In 2021, the university was authorized to grant doctorate degrees and the professional degree of doctor of clinical medicine. In 2023, it was approved to build and develop the clinical medical postdoctoral research mobile station.


The University has 3 campuses - Lequn Campus, Dongcheng Campus and Lingui Campus. It has 3 directly affiliated hospitals, 25 clinical teaching hospitals and 20 colleges, schools, faculties and departments, including School of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical College, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Stomatology, etc. The University’s full-time higher education system offers 4 higher vocational programs, 26 bachelor’s programs, such as clinical medicine, pharmacy, biotechnology, etc., as well as 5 master’s programs in first-level disciplines and 8 professional master’s programs. There are nearly 30,000 full-time undergraduates and junior college students, postgraduate students and international students at GLMU.

3 Years

Chinese

Applicants shall pass HSK 4 or above before postgraduate   study. Otherwise, applicants shall make up for their Chinese language   learning and pass HSK 4 before starting their degree programs.









III. Application Qualifications

Applicants should:

1.be foreign citizens with valid passports. Chinese citizens who have emigrated and apply to study at GLMU as international students must have held the valid foreign passport or nationality certificate at least 4 years. In the last 4 years (up to April 30 of the enrollment year), an applicant should live outside China more than 2 years (the actual living abroad for more than 9 months in a year can be counted as one year, and subject to the entry and exit stamps).

2.hold bachelor’s degree and be no more than 35 years old when applying for the program.

3.be in good health (physically and mentally) and have good conduct without criminal record.

4. should be friendly to China, and abide by laws and regulations of the University and China, and respect Chinese customs and habits.


IV. Materials Required

1. Application Form for International Student of GLMU.

2. Scanned Copies of the first page with personal information and the pages with exit and entry records of the applicant’s valid passport (personal information page and pages with departure records, if any).

3. Bachelor Degree Certificate and Transcripts. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

4. Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Applicants should complete the check-up items listed on the Form. A form is invalid without a photo of the examinee with a stamp or a signature and a stamp of the hospital and doctors.

5. A Study Plan in China (written in Chinese or English).

6. Two Recommendation Letters signed by professors or associate professors. (written in Chinese or English).

7. Police Clearance Certificate.

8. Digital Identification Photo in JPG format.

9. HSK 4 or above certificate.

10. Research Achievements: Title lists and abstracts of the applicant’s published academic papers, or other original research achievements (if any).


V. Application Procedures & Deadline

Please send the scanned application materials mentioned above to College of International Education of GLMU by email (admission@glmc.edu.cn) before the required time.

VI. Admission Procedures

College of International Education of GLMU will:

1.check up on applicants’ application materials, and inform qualified applicants of the arrangement of written examination and interview by email or phone.

2.select students according to their comprehensive performance in the exam and interview and decides the proposed admission list.

3.submit the proposed applicants’ application materials to relevant departments of the University and Education Department of Guangxi for approval.

4. inform the students to be admitted by email or phone, and mail the original JW202, admission notice and other admission materials.


VII. Fees

1. Registration fee: RMB¥ 400 /person

2. Tuition:

l Chinese Language Course (non-degree): RMB¥ 12,000 /year

l Postgraduate program: RMB¥ 20,000 /year

3. Accommodation fee: about RMB¥ 4,500 /year (charges for water and electricity are not included and will be paid by the students themselves)

Notes: Set by Finance Department of GLMU, the accommodation fees are different for different apartment buildings and campuses, and may be altered in different years.  

4. Other fees:

l Insurance fee: RMB¥ 800/year

l Fees of physical examination and visa/resident permit application will be charged by relevant national official departments according to rules and regulations.

l Textbook fee: students will purchase the recommended books by themselves according to the courses of each semester.
